Our toys on local TV!
Tyler and I had two really great, and really fun shows this month! The Handmade Market and Designer's Downtown Market.
Tyler likes to get real dapper for the shows. As seen in the picture below.
For our second show Tyler just wore his Teddy Bear Pajamas, as he didn't feel like getting fancy.
We also sent a few pieces to the annual Plush You! show. Check out the interview and info about my pieces here.
Here's a photo of my creatures taken by Kristen Rask of Schmancy Toys.
The orange guy is Falkoner Henry, PhD. I'll be finishing up his series, Plutonian Zoological Society, of toys after the holidays.
Another fun picture is my Army of Silly, the Gruffy McBearguins who I was preparing for DKE Toys.
If there is any item or color not available at that site that you want, just e-mail me as I probably just haven't updated it.

Back to Work
Now it's probably been several weeks since coming back from SDCC -- which was awesome! I had a lot more fun than I was expecting. I will put in some pictures!
K, there are a few more pictures here.
Something exciting that's happening tomorrow:
It's here in my new town, Raleigh, there'll be Firebreather and Acrobats, and Sideshow Acts and even Burlesque Dancers. Plus us selling our toys! Yay! Should be fun, I'll probably have an update several weeks after it happens.
hmm...what else to say...oh yeah! I'm working on a brand new toys series!!
It's not quite finished yet, and I'm hoping to do a big reveal once it's all finished, but if you want to ruin it and see what I have so far, you can go here: tylerponcho.com/plutonianzoologicalsociety.
Here our my toys inside DKE toys' booth. |
At Conan's art show I contributed to his color by number--can you find my name :D? |
Gruffy McBroguin meets someone special. Since my nerdy brother couldn't come to SDCC this year I brought along the Broguin, who is a mutation of my brother and a bearguin. |
In case you didn't know that broguin gets his beard from the Brother part. |
adorableness, the show is Adventure Time on Cartoon Network, which has one excellent free episode online for those of you that don't have cable, like me. |
A singularity fan! (my hubby worked on this game) |

Upcoming Events - Sock Monkey Workshop!
Two events coming up in a couple weeks, right here in my new town-- Raleigh, North Carolina!
The first, on Tuesday July 12th, is the July Etsy Meet-up in Raleigh, where everyone is making sock monkeys!
I was invited to be the guest speaker at the event and will bring my monkey embellishments, kits, samples of my work and such for the event. The monkey making activity is free, (if you bring your own socks), but you can also purchase traditional red heel sock with detailed instructions (narrated by Tyler Poncho) for $10. Here's the details:
July 12th
Conference room of Techshop RDU from 7-10 pm
5905 Triangle Drive
Raleigh, NC 27617
Next up on July 16th is the Designer's Downtown Market. We will have our booth with our current lines of toys and books available. Due to the heat of this outdoor affair, Tyler will probably not be there for a meet and greet since overexposure to sunlight makes his fur a bit ornery. He will be at the monkey making, though, so make sure to stop by if you'd like to meet him in person! There will be many great artists working in many different mediums at this show, including food, so it's definitely worth checking out. The details:
Designers Downtown Market
509 N. West St., Raleigh, NC
July 16, 9-3 pm

Finally a blog post, including...Designer Toy Awards!
Tyler and I are nominated for three awards, yay!
Our Gummi Bear is nominated for Best Plush Design.
We're nominated with Breena Wiederhoeft for Best Toy from a Comic.
and Kaeti's nominated for Break Through Artist.
Since I am traveling out to the SDCC I will be at the awards ceremony that is only blocks away!
I'm really excited for SDCC, but also a bit nervous because there were no more guest passes to go with the Professional passes so I have to wander by myself, not even with Tyler, my usual human substitute.
We should have som of our toys at the DKE toys booth, and some paintings from the Amalgamated Menagerie, Volume One in the art show.
But also exciting!!-- We're moving into a more permanent studio this weekend--the first we've had since February, and the best part--We get all our furs back!! We've been trying to keep up these past months, but Lengi Bears have been sadly out of stock since most of our supplies and furs have been in storage. So we're thrilled.
Some unfortunate news... Tyler broke his neck a couple months ago. I performed a fixing surgery but it looks like he'll need his whole spine replaced. As the original Poncho, he has an early cardboard spine from a canvas roll. I'm always nervous about fixing him because I don't want to alter the personality he seems to emanate. Hopefully, once we're in our new studio I will be able to perform the spine surgery optimally.
Hmm...no pictures so far, instead I'll link to this new promotional catalog I made.
I couldn't do it, I needed a photo.
