Making of: Swisswis!

Swisswis is the newest design in our Stuffed Animal World series. The real swisswis is a 3 foot tall, super huggable, soft and wide teddy bear that's white with pink paws....The evolution of inspiration led me to this.

Swisswis is a monstrous creature of Stuffed Animal World, he lives alone in his spotted cave, feasting on any small insects that pass him.
I believe I started imagining that since Swisswis was such a large bear, having claws seemed like something he would do...Through a series of sketches he also developed beaks. Through the process of production he lost his claws. I thought his ears would be pretty, so he has hollow ears. Like Prince Ted, he gets a certain amount of his cuteness by not having any limbs :) Ah the helpless, pitiable, limbless monster...don't you just want to snuggle up to his beaks so he can chew on you a little bit with minimal exertion on his part?

As my last making of post was popular enough to receive two comments, I took more making of photos!

Pieces cut and starting to pin together.

Spots sewn, beaks started.
Beaks finished, ears cut.
Face coming together, sewing body.

Aaw...so tentacley and fuzzy :)

He is available on Etsy now, and tylerponcho.com/stuffedanimalworld soon!

  1. I like these Making of: posts. It's fun to see how you work. It'd be cool to see sketches too, if they are part of your process.
